A year ago, I bought a home built in 1865 and unimproved since the 1960s. It was largely uninhabitable and certainly lacking in any charm whatsoever. I chose Ted Mead of Eco-Logical Building Solutions to be the contractor for a complete house renovation. Ted created a gorgeous, modern kitchen and two very lovely bathrooms, completely altered the location of walls, windows and even rooms to suit my family’s needs, oversaw the installation of all new plumbing, conversion from knob and tube and vintage unusable outlets to all new electrical throughout the house, mudded ancient walls and/or added new drywall and molding, restored gorgeous original flooring and added new hardwood where needed. Ted’s comprehensive insulation installation made my 152-year-old house anything but drafty and a state of the art learning thermostat keeps my heating expense surprisingly manageable. When friends and guests visit my home, they usually gasp and often ask if they can move in. Every time I come home, I think about how grateful I am to live in such a beautiful home.
Aside from the phenomenal transformation that Ted pulled off, he also charmed us to no end with his easy-going, cheerful manner and wonderful crew. It definitely felt like they were part of the family. I would absolutely recommend Ted for any scale of project. In our case, Ted and his crew took the house down to studs and built it back up, but it still felt like they respected my home in that they never left the worksite untidy at the end of the day, never left trash or construction debris sitting around and just seemed so happy to be building our dream house for us. I will always be thankful for the job they did for us.
